One of the most convenient ways to get around Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island is on the Island Explorer shuttle bus system. This is a free, public transportation system that links together many of the area's most popular sites and attractions using low-emissions, propane powered buses.

 

Besides being free, the next best thing about the Island Explorer is it stops right in front of our lobby. Many of our guests report that they never used their vehicle during the entire time they were here. That certainly is the goal the system and we're happy to see it benefit our guests so directly.

 

The Island Explorer operates in-season, through Columbus Day.
